CRF rated great

We certainly appreciate the work of all those who played a part in bringing back Concrete River Days. It was great!

Glen & Nancy Stanard,

I-522 bad policy

Despite the fact that hundreds of studies have proven genetically engineered foods to be perfectly safe, the promoters of Initiative 522 are trying to make Washington the first-and only-state in the country to mandate costly labeling regulations on these foods.

Genetically engineered foods are the most rigorously tested food on the planet.

They are also incredibly common; 70-80% of foods and beverages sold in grocery stores have been genetically engineered.

The American Medical Association has stated publicly that there is “no scientific justification for special labeling” of GE foods.

In addition, the FDA is on record saying that GE crops do not differ from traditional crops in “any meaningful or uniform way.” Dozens of other prestigious scientific and medical organizations from around the world have also studied and approved GE foods.

Trillions of meals featuring GE foods have been served to billions of people for nearly two decades without a single documented case of adverse health effects.

Proponents of I-522 would have you ignore these facts, and try to convince you that there is a need to relabel these products with warning labels that would unnecessarily frighten and confuse consumers. Do not believe them. Their arguments are not rooted in science, but in emotion.

No health or safety benefits will be realized by placing warning labels on perfectly safe foods. What will be realized are higher grocery bills for you and your family due to I-522’s burdensome regulations. Higher grocery bills in exchange for no health or safety benefits? That is bad policy.

I encourage readers to find out more about I-522 by visiting FactsAbout522.com, and join me in voting NO on I-522 this November.

Randy Suess,
