Charge alleges pistol threat

John Clay Bordley, 31, pleaded not guilty Friday to first degree assault for allegedly waving a pistol at Julius Rock, a staff member of Anytime Fitness in Pullman July 11. According to the Pullman police report, they responded to several reports of a man waving a pistol around at the fitness shop on Bishop Boulevard.

The arrest report filed with the charge said Bordley told officers he was assaulted at Anytime Fitness when he went there to get a drink of water. He said he pulled out his wife’s pellet pistol to protect himself. The report said Rock told officers Bordley kept attempting to get into the building after he was told he would not be allowed to enter.

When police arrived on the scene, Bordley did not have a pistol. After a search, police said they found a Khar 40 caliber pistol in the weeds near the Building Block Child Care Center.

Bordley was arrested and booked in jail here with bond for pre-trial release set at $50,000.
