Office aims for Aug. 15 finish

The Jennings Elementary office remodeling project, already underway, it is now an independent part of the broader security and capital improvements construction plan. Since those bids were rejected, the District took the Jennings office part of the project internal, with a goal of completion by Aug. 15.

Colfax Superintendent Michael Morgan has overseen the work, doing the demolition himself, with help from Samantha Evans, a junior-to-be who is part of the Rural Resources program. From there, cabinets have been ordered from Home Depot, carpet from the Beresford Company. Steve’s Glass of Colfax has ordered the required exterior door and the interior door and window. Harrison Electric of Colfax will do the electrical. A subcontractor is yet to be decided for the dry wall.

It will all come under a budget of $45,000, said Morgan, which follows state law for not requiring bids.
