Pullman Patriots drop doubleheader to Spokane Northstars

Pullman Patriots dropped two games to the Spokane Northstars Monday at Jackson Field in Spokane to drop to 2-8 in the Spokane Senior Legion league. The Pats battled into two extra innings in the first game with a three-run rally in the top of the seventh, but the Stars scored the decider in the bottom of the ninth to snap the 3-3 tie.

Patrick Jacobs started in the first game and Hunter Redinger went to the mound in the seventh.

The Pats out-hit the `Stars 10-8 in the opener with Redinger rapping three with a double.

Northstar bats came to life in the second game for 11 hits and an 11-1 win over five innings. The Pats also booked four errors in the second game.

Matt Peterson had the lone hit in the second game.

Friday's trip to Spokane followed a 0-4 run by the Patriots in their second run in the summer series.

The run ended Friday with a 4-12 loss to the Seattle Titans the LCSC’s Harris Field in Lewiston.

The Titans scored three runs in the top of the first inning and added five more in the fifth. They took it over the 10-run rule with four more in the sixth.

Redinger started for the Patriots.

Redinger and Bricyn Abdul doubled to lead the Pats’ six-hit offense.

Thursday at Colfax the Patriots were hammered by the Seattle Stars in another mercy rule decision at McDonald Park.

The Seattle club put up 14 runs over the first four innings. Nick Brooks of Seattle posted the launch with a three-run homer in the first inning.

Jacobs started on his home field at Colfax. The Stars continued to pound the ball in the second inning. Redinger relieved Jacobs and met the same fate when the Stars added six more runs in the third.

The Patriots came back with two runs in the bottom of the third and added three more in the bottom of the fourth, not enough to avoid the 10-run shutdown at 16-5.

Redinger had two of the Pats’ six hits with a double and Peterson tripled.

Third loss in the summer series run was a 8-0 shutout at the hands of the Vancouver Cardinals Thursday at Pullman. The Patriots had just three hits.

Justin Cillay started for the Patriots and Brady Ellis relieved him in the fifth.

The Patriots are now 3-18 overall.
