St. John gets geared up for June spring boat races

St. John

With just three weeks until St. John gets invaded with thousands of fans for the start of boat races, Amanda Webb says the crew is working hard to get lawns mowed and the slough filled. The first race will be June 15, and she promises it’s going to be bigger and better this year.

The Whitman Ladies of the Nile lunch and style show had more than 100 attending from as far away as Spokane. Door prizes were a big hit with many getting great gifts. They had birdhouse’s for sale and most sold. All the money will go to the shriner’s hospital.

The P.O.W. road crew started work this week. Park Street is closed to through traffic. Please note the detour signs.

Gene Kemper reported his wife Sally, who suffered a stroke April 20, has been moved from St. Luke’s to Whitman Rehab in Colfax and is making great progress. They express appreciation to St. John EMTS, the 911 dispatcher and Med star.

Spring sport night is May 25. Golf will be at the St. John Golf course at 5:30, track will be at 6:30 in the St. John Multi purpose Room and baseball will be at the LaCrosse High School, also at 6:30.
