Davis duo marks 65th years

St. John

Harry and Erma Davis this year marked their 65th wedding anniversary. They were married May 8, 1948.

Harry said they grew up together in the small town of Lamont. They were the first couple to get married in the Community Church in Sprague. The first had burned down and was being rebuilt at the time. They made their home at the Lamont farm where they had three children. They moved to Sunset for about 10 years and then built a home in St. John where they still live. Along with three children, they have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. When Harry was asked what the key to a happy marriage is, he said, “Erma’s always right.”

Kim (Kjack), Rick and Kincaid Colvin from Beaverton, Ore., were up to visit her parents, Buzz and Maribeth Kjack. Kincaid, only six weeks old, met many of his aunts, uncles and cousins for the first time. Maribeth said the house was full all weekend with family members coming and going to meet and greet him. This is Kim and Rick’s first child.

Tiffany and Thomas Organ took a mini trip to Boston, in which Tiff said they went on a duck boat tour and the freedom trail tour where they saw the site of the Boston massacre, the route of Paul Revere and the grave site of Samuel Adams. They headed down to the finish line of the Boston Marathon. She said the sidewalks had already been paved over and there were still many flowers, stuffed animals and such at the site. She said it was still an eerie feeling. They got to tour Fenway Park and then enjoyed watching a Red Socks game, where the team honored one of the fallen victims. Her mother threw out the first pitch of the night.

The St. John senior dinner was May 14 with oven-roasted chicken, butter baby carrots and cheese potatoes, with brownies and ice cream for dessert. Tammy Bailey has been in charge of this event with help from other moms now for about 25 years.

Eva Clare Weeks was born May 4 at eight pounds to Sean and Erin Weeks. Grandmother is Tamera Weeks.
