Wes and Jen Claassen spent four days in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, celebrating their 40th birthdays and 17th wedding anniversary in mid-January. It was their first vacation in three years by themselves; no kidlets. After the Mexico trip, Jen went to Branson, Mo., from Jan. 17 through the 23 to spend time with her parents. Her father is having radiation treatments for reoccuring cancer. Her sister from Indiana and brother from Kansas City arrived in Branson to help their mother celebrate her birthday on the 20th.

Steve and Dianne Appel went on vacation to Colorado Jan.16, to see Steve’s sister Laurette and her family. They stopped at Jackson Hole on the way. From Colorado, they went on to New Mexico to see a friend in Raton and then to the Grand Canyon. On their way home, they stopped in Las Vegas. They enjoyed seeing the West in its winter splendor. They arrived home Jan. 24.

Fran Maki spent last week house and sheep sitting for her daughter Sarah in Moses Lake. Sarah was in San Antonio for the week.

David and Phyllis Stueckle attended the memorial reception in honor of David Hubbard, former LaCrosse native, in St. John Friday.

Pastor Steve Sasz will be the interim pastor at the Country Bible Church. He and his wife Darla live in Moscow, Idaho. He formerly was an army chaplain. Former pastor Floyd Overstreet recently retired from the church’s pulpit.
