Palouse Cares drives top 18 tons of food, $26,000

The Palouse Cares food drive Dec. 1 brought in more than 36,000 pounds of food and received more than $26,000 in donations. The effort involved more than 1,300 volunteers with high school and college students and others participating. Palouse Cares is the largest single day food drive on the Palouse.

Food bank volunteers helped with the massive separating and sorting of all the food gathered.

Live and silent auctions in several of the towns helped raise funds. At the auction in Moscow, more than 200 items were put up for bid.

Palouse Cares this year expanded into Palouse, Deary, Idaho, Bovill...
