A memorial service for B. Dale Stover, 90, life-time resident of St. John, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at the St. John Christian Church. A graveside service will precede the memorial service at 10 a.m. at the St. John Cemetery.

Mr. Stover died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, in Richland.

Born Dec. 21, 1921, in St. John to James and Ada Bageant Stover, he graduated from St. John High School and worked as a mechanic for McConnell’s Hardware. He married Barbara Pratt June 9, 1945. Dale worked as a farm hand for Gene Webb for a while, and after they moved into town he partnered with the Webb family in the grocery business. Dale ran the grocery store until 1968. He later worked as the fertilizer manager for St. John Grange Supply and then as a bookkeeper for the St. John Grain Growers until retiring.

Mr. Stover was an active member of the St. John Christian Church and had served on the church board. He was also a past director for the St. John Cemetery and a member of the Oddfellows Lodge. He enjoyed bowling in league competitions at Rosalia.

The Stovers loved to travel, and they took bus trips in later years. He also enjoyed working in his yard and taking care of his flowers and garden. Mrs. Stover died in 2010.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty (Jim) Lakey of Kennewick and Nancy (Greg) Benner of Spokane; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be made to the St. John Christian Church.
