Valor quilts will go to 30 veterans

A total of 30 quilts will be presented to veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq at a Quilts of Valor event Sunday, Nov. 11, said Debbie Goetz, the event’s organizer. The event will be at the Palouse Community Center at 3 p.m.

All of the fabric and supplies for the quilts have been donated over the past two years from events such as a Quilt-A-Thon at the Potlatch VFW hall each September.

The quilts have a patriotic theme.

Each quilt will be given with a presentation case, also made by local artisans. The quilts will be a minimum of 55 inches long with a maximum width of 90 inches.

Cookies and refreshments will be served.

“We should all thank a veteran. We have a United States because of them,” Goetz said. She is the proprietor of Grammy G’s Quilts in Palouse.
