Preparing to harvest—both wheat and wind

As winter wheat ripens for harvest, cranes continue to add pieces to some of the turbines at Palouse Wind’s 58-turbine wind farm in this vista from Highway 271 south of Rosalia. Crews have erected many of the towers for the north portion of the wind farm over the past month and have been placing naselles on their tops at a rate of about one a day for the past two weeks. Blades for the turbines are anticipated to arrive in the next couple of weeks. The wind farm is expected to be up and running by the end of the year.
