School board approves three hires

Colfax School board approved three staff hirings at their meeting Monday night.

Heather York was approved as a sixth-grade teacher at Jennings Elementary, non-continuing for 2012-13. She takes the place for a teacher who will be on a leave of absence.

Shala Vorderbrueggen was approved for up to 30 hours per week over the summer for extended school year teaching of higher-needs students. This will include six or seven students in areas such as occupational therapy and maintaining reading levels.

In Food Service, Supervisor Kathy Kammerzell has resigned 2.5 hours per week in order to free more time for an assistant. The final arrangement is to be decided. Supt. Michael Morgan said it will likely include adding another hour for an assistant.
