Dog duffers top district links card

Colfax golfers went 1-2-3 and took the team title in the first round of the District 7 B golf championships Tuesday on the par-72 Meadow Wood golf course at Liberty Lake.

Tyler Stevenson’s 79 score was good for the medal, followed by teammates Kyle Johnson at 81 and Kasey Johnson at 84. Hunter Weitze shot an 86 for sixth place as the sub-district tourney advanced 28 boys to next Monday’s finals.

The showing gave the Bulldogs a score of 207.5, with placings converted to points. Second place Lind/Ritzville/Sprague’s scored 122. Cusick placed third at 92, followed by Kettle Falls 80.5, Davenport 77.5, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 25 and Inchelium 22.

Colfax golfer Ryan Christopherson finished in 11th place with a 97. Cody Gronning shot 109 to claim an alternate card to next week’s match.

Top 16 finishers from the district final advance to the state B golf championship at Oakbrook Golf and Country club in Lakewood May 22 and 23.

Paige Mackleit put a 133 on her card to advance to next week’s district final in 12th place. District 7 sends its top eight girls to the Lakewood state championship.
