AARP safety class set for 50-plus drivers

An AARP driver safety program will be May 7 and 8 in the Public Service Building at Colfax from 1 to 5 p.m. each day. The eight hour course, conducted in two half-day sessions, is for drivers 50 and older. It addresses age-related changes that can affect driving ability and behavior and teaches ways to compensate. The curriculum is designed to remind senior drivers of skills they once learned but perhaps fail to use regularly.

Most insurance companies offer a discount on rates for drivers who complete the program. The fee to cover the cost of materials is $12 for AARP members and $14 otherwise. Advance registration is required and space is limited. To register call AAG Insurance in Colfax or Stan Buckley in Pullman.
