Sale of rare book marks Titanic 100th

To mark the 100-year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, Friends of Whitman County Library are selling “The Story of the Wreck of the Titanic” by Marshall Everett. It was published in 1912 and has been called “the first draft of history” on this tragic event.

This book was donated to the Friends of the Library and is now for sale at etsy.com for $399.99.

Selling used books is one of the ways Friends has supported library programs, projects and services. Friends are now able to research a book’s value and sell it to a larger market online. Besides listing with etsy.com Friends sell books through Once Sold Tales and are investigating other online opportunities.

Coupling online sales with the Book Sale area, Troll’s Corner within the library, the Friends are earning a nice steady profit each month which allows them to contribute anywhere from $20 to $200 per month toward critical library needs.

Whitman County Library encourages donations of books, music and movies to the Friends of Whitman County Library in all 14 branch locations. While most items are only worth a dollar or two, these donations can make a difference in the services the library is able to provide.
