WSU fraternity members aide clean out of store basement

Members of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at WSU cleaned out the basement of the LaCrosse market building Feb. 18 They loaded scrap iron on a trailer and four truckloads of scrap wood. Randy Myklebust, a grandson of T. A. Myklebust who operated the store at LaCrosse for many years, organized the work party. Randy currently lives in Clarkston with his wife, Barb, and daughter, Molly, who were also at the work session.

Fifteen Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity members from Washington State University joined local volunteers to clear debris from the LaCrosse Market building. The still-working dumb waiter was used to clear the basement, which is now empty for the first time in decades. Approximately 20 volunteers were served lunch at the Teapot Cafe. Donations were received to pay for lunch. Cookies, brownies, pop, water and snacks were provided by several community members. The fraternity will return to paint and assemble shelving at a later date.

The National Honor Society plans a Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser at the school March 7. Students in all grades will be accepting donations for the American Heart Association through March 6. For more informqtion contact Nancy Shank, NHS advisor.

The Republican caucus session at 10 a.m. Saturday in the LaCrosse City Hall will be for the LaCrosse, Hay, Hooper, Dusty and Endicott precincts.
