Museum seeks new members

Oakesdale

Oakesdale Museum is seeking new members. Annual membership fee is $5 per year. If interested contact Mayor Dennis Palmer.

Oakesdale City Council welcomed new council member Kelli Meserve at the first meeting of the year last week.

Reminder to get 2012 dog tags at City Hall. All dogs within city limits must be licensed.

Joey Fisch was the winner of the new bike and helmet after his name was picked in the “Books for Bikes” drawing in December. For every 20 minutes of reading, a student earns a ticket to be entered into the drawing. The “Books for Bikes” program is sponsored by the Pullman Wal-Mart and the local Oakesdale Masonic Lodge which is made of residents from Tekoa, Oakesdale, Garfield, Palouse and Farmington. They also award a scholarship to one member of the graduating class at Tekoa, Oakesdale and Garfield/Palouse.

Oakesdale music students Dec. 13 performed their winter concert. The fourth-fifth grade band started the concert with five selections. First through third graders sang four songs including “We Will Jingle” with third graders doing a boomwacker rendition of “Jolly Ol’ Saint Nicholas.”

The junior high and high school bands played two selections together with audience participation on “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” and the high school featured soloists Katy Renstrom, Hannah Shepherd and Jeffrey DeGon.
