Everybody Reads to feature Blue Heaven by C.J. Box

Libraries and bookstores across our region are planning for the 11th year of the popular Everybody Reads program. This year’s reading selection is Blue Heaven by New York Times author C.J. Box. Residents are encouraged to pick up a copy from their nearest bookstore, library or download it from the library’s catalog in preparation for author visits Nov. 7-10. In Colfax, Box will speak at a luncheon Tuesday, Nov. 8 at noon in the library’s meeting room. During that appearance, attendees can reserve a “Box Lunch” through the library for $8, bring their own lunch or just come to listen. Box lunches should be pre-ordered by calling the library.

Books are available for purchase from Main Street Books who will also provide them for Box’s presentation. Box’s writing style has been described as suspenseful, fast-paced and gritty. Blue Heaven is a stand-alone thriller that takes place in north Idaho. It was the winner of the 2008 Edgar Allen Poe award.

Box will also appear Nov. 7 at noon in the Bundy Reading Room of WSU’s Avery Hall and at 7p.m. in the 1912 Center, Moscow. Also on Nov. 8 he will be at Neill Library in Pullman.

On Wednesday, Nov. 9 he will be at Lewiston High School at 10 a.m. and Nezperce Community Library at 7 p.m. On Thursday, Nov. 10 he will be at the Asotin County Library in Clarkston at noon, and at a 6 p.m. reception followed by a presentation at 7 p.m., Orchid Room, Morgan’s Alley, Lewiston.

Everybody Reads is supported in large part through grants from the Institute for Museums and Library Services, The Washington State Library, the Idaho Humanities Council and Humanities Washington and local corporate sponsors.
