Pullman FFA horse evaluation team wins state competition at Othello

The Pullman FFA Horse Evaluation team won the Washington State FFA Association State Horse Evaluation competition Friday at the Adams County Fair in Othello. The team consists of senior, Maja Olson, daughter of Bob and Lori Olson; senior, Ashley Reisenauer, daughter of Mike and Charity Reisenauer; junior, Sydney Reynolds, daughter of Dennis and Julia Reynolds; senior, K.T. McMurray, daughter of Rick and Sue McMurray, and senior, Mandy Lehmitz, daughter of Harvey and Tammy Lehmitz. Maja Olson also scored the highest of all the individuals in the contest and won the 1st place individual award.

The team will compete in the National FFA Horse Evaluation Career Development Event during the 84th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., Oct. 19-22.

Members demonstrate their ability to reason and communicate about equine science through a team problem-solving activity and individually evaluating classes composed of performance or halter horses. They then justify their selections through oral presentations.
