Wood art

display slated at Dahmen

The Cambium Collective, a group of regional wood artists from the Palouse, will exhibits contemporary wood pieces at Artisans at Dahmen Barn in Uniontown during August. The exhibit will open Aug. 6 with a reception from 1 to 3p. m. All artists will be present and refreshments will be served.

Decorative, functional, and sculptural wood art by Ben Carpenter, Geoff Crimmins, Ed Krumpe, Jim Christiansen, Kristin LeVier, Eric Baumgartner, John Elwood, Will Simpson, Len Zeoli, and Gerrit van Ness will be on exhibit. The exhibit will feature a wide range of techniques and woods.

Pullman park concert

Eric Engerbretson will perform next Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Reaney Park from 6 to 7:30 to conclude the Pullman Parks and Recreation summer concert series. Engerbretson plays acoustic rock, blues and Jazz. Dominos will serve food from 5:30 to 7:30. For more information contact Pullman Parks and Recreation.

Colfax grads to meet

Colfax High grads will gather again in Spokane Monday, Aug. 8, at 1 p.m. at the Timber Creek Buffet in the Argonne Village Shopping Center. Special guest will be Coach Len Pyne.

This month’s get together was advanced one week to accommodate some of the guests.

Movie Nights

at Empire

The Empire Theatre in Tekoa will host family movie nights on Thursdays this month starting at 6:30 p.m. Children 4th grade and under must be accompanied by someone 16 or older. Refreshments will be available during intermission. Donations are appreciated and will help fund future movie nights. Scheduled movies are MegaMind- Aug,4, Daddy Daycare- Aug. 11, Monsters vs. Aliens- Aug. 18, How to Train Your Dragon - Aug. 25.

Reminder- Whitman County Library system this week is closed for scheduled computer and building maintenance.

Pajama Storytime under the tree in Hayden’s Corner will be Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Colfax Library. Stories, songs and fun with friends.

The Whitman County Library van along with Book Bear will be in the Lentil Festival Parade Saturday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. in Pullman.

Dolores Haley of Oakesdale was honored as Library Supporter for the month of July. She is a dedicated library patron and has long supported children’s programs by baking treats and assisting with programs. Dolores volunteers in the library, assists with the book club and serves as a substitute librarian.

Volunteer Larry Caudill recently painted parking stripes in the alley behind the Colfax Library. They include a 10-minute slot.

Visit the library today and check out the Money Saving Coupon Binder located in Troll’s Corner Book Store. The binder has 36 categories divided and organized to help find the right coupon for individual needs.
