Recently, Kevin Brink and family, Pastor and Mrs. Grant Knowles and other members of the Power of Pentecost Church in Pasco had a religious weekend campout at the Larry and Di Brink farm.

Recent visitors at the homes of Bryan and Fran Jones of Dusty were Bruce, Hanna and Annie Jones of Burlington, Vt. Cousins Sharon Edwards Urtaza of Las Cruces, N.M., and Bonnie Edwards Kirlin of Tenino visited for three days. Gena Jones and family from Chatillon, Italy, returned to their home on July 4. While here, they all spent time at the home of Warren Jones in Post Falls.

Jon and Li Ochs were at the home of Nadja and Matt Wilson in Duvall to celebrate the Ochs’ grandson Aidan’s 10th birthday. He had a camp-out party with his school friends. They had BBQ hobo packs, hot dogs, S’mores, campfire stories and a fireworks show provided by Aidan’s dad who is a professional pyrotechnic. Joining them was Sara Ochs and friend Nathan Yeager.

The rest of the weekend was spent helping Nadja prepare her gardens for a garden tour this past weekend. Aiding in the prep work were cousin Mark Baker and Aunt Nan Baker from Gladstine, Ore. Nan is the sister of the late Helen Ochs. The gardens were clipped and weeded by four generations; Nan, Li, Nadja and her daughter Avril. Jon and Li returned home July 3.

Forty-two members of the Dick and Helen Appel family had a reunion at Camp Ramblewood near Sequim. Several days were spent clamming, picking oysters, exploring tide pools, playing games and visiting.

Oscar Broeckel, Brian Broeckel, Karen Broeckel, Dusty; Doreen Riedner, Genesee; Patty Wieber, Spokane; Tony and Denise Kendall and Al Broeckel, Tacoma, attended funeral services for Oscar’s brother-in-law, Darrell Mock, at the Washington Odd Fellows Home Chapel in Walla Walla last Wednesday.

Saturday evening, Ed and Joan Broeckel hosted a reception in their home for approximately 65 guests honoring their daughter Jennifer and their son-in-law, Anthony Harkishnani. Jennifer and Anthony were married in Bellevue, where they reside, June 25.

Ronda Clark and her seven-month-old daughter Chloe visited with her parents Norm and Gloria Erickson from June 27 to July 4 when they returned to their home in Surprise, AZ.

Linda Hennigar spent the weekend of the fourth in Kennewick at the home of her daughter’s family, Tami and Jay Banks and Wesley. They celebrated Linda and Tami’s birthdays with a barbeque on Friday with guests Greg and Toni Banks and Kaylin and Kelsi and another barbeque on the 4th with guests Brian and Pam Gray. They also watched fireworks. Linda also attended her grandson Wesley’s baseball tournament.

Art and Colene Sager flew to Sagle, Idaho, Saturday to attend a public reception celebrating the 90th birthday of Dr. Bird who invented, among other things, the respirator which saved the lives of many preemie babies. They also toured the doctor’s museum, which is a tribute to his flying career.

David and Phyllis Stueckle spent three weeks on a trip to San Antonio, Texas, to attend the wedding of their grandson Nathan and Rebecca Stueckle. Nathan is the son of Doug and Cheryl Stueckle of Coeur d’Alene. All of Doug and Cheryl’s children were able to attend the wedding. David and Phyllis also visited four national parks : Zion, Brice Canyon, Arches and the Grand Canyon.

Carol Kyllo attended the wedding of Alishia Meyers, daughter of Brent and Paula Morris Meyers, and Jarod Taylor at the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds gazebo Saturday. The reception was also on the fairgrounds.

Next Sunday, July 17, at 11, Scott Edinger, son of Palmer and Betty Edinger of Albion, will be the guest speaker at the Country Bible Church south of Dusty. Scott, his wife and three children currently live in Oregon but are preparing to leave soon to serve in Rwanda.
