Books for bikes winners collect at Wal-Mart

Winners of the second annual Books for Bikes program, sponsored by the Oakesdale Masonic Lodge for students in Tekoa, Oakesdale, Garfield and Palouse schools, traveled to Wal-Mart in Pullman June 6 to pick out their prize bicycles.

The lodge was assisted with a $500 grant from Wal-Mart to purchase the bicycles for the winners.

The program encourages youngsters in kindergarten through sixth grade to read because the more books they finish the more entries they were allowed to submit for the bike prize drawing box at each school.
