Creole Spirit Band, ColdRail due at Dahmen

Dennis Stroughmatt and the Creole Spirit band will perform next Sunday, July 10, at 6:30 p.m. at the Dahmen Barn’s hillside amphitheater in Uniontown. Dennis learned Creole music at the feet of masters living in French Creole communities in Missouri and Illinois, and then in Cajun and Creole communities around Lafayette, La. Admission will be $15 for adults and $12 for teens.

ColdRail Blues Band will perform a high energy mix of rhythm and blues with soul at Dahmen Barn Saturday, July 9, at 7:30 p.m.

Celebrating their fifth year, ColdRail plays great originals like “Dog House”, “Lead Footed Mama” and “Blind Horizon” as well as classics from the likes of Buddy Guy, Willie Dixon, Elmore James, B.B. King, Little Walter and others.

Admission will be $7 at the door, with children under 12 free.

Green Hollow picnic set

Green Hollow Community potluck picnic will be Wednesday, July 6, at 6 p.m. in the shelter area at Schmuck Park. Present and past residents are encouraged to come and visit and share their favorite recipes.

Thran to play at Colfax

Cowboy musician Robby Thran, cowboy poets and barbecue are scheduled for an evening of entertainment Monday, July 11, at 6 p.m. in Schmuck Park. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket.

This free program is co-sponsored by Colfax Chamber of Commerce and Friends of Whitman County Library.

Grangeville artist opens Dahmen show

Grangeville artist Jackie Zumalt will display her paintings at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn July 2 through July 31. Her paintings are big, colorful and bright and show her spontaneity. The exhibit’s opening reception will be Saturday, July 9, from 1 to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served at the free event.

Zumalt is a graduate of California State University at Sacramento and a signature member of Northwest Watercolor Society. She is a long time member of Central Idaho Art Association and the Idaho Watercolor Society.
