Wildcats, Viking girls book wins

Colton and Garfield/Palouse booked big wins Tuesday in matchups for SE softball Those games went into the books in the 1B division.

Tekoa/Oakesdale/Rosalia girls Tuesday sustained two loses on their home field at Tekoa to Asotin in the 2B division.

COLTON pitchers Mikayla Nygreen and Taylor Nilson totally silenced Pirate bats at Pomeroy. The Wildcat bats went to work for two wins in five inning games.

Colton took the opener 20-0 with 15 hits with Kaitlin Druffel and Savannah Chadwick each tagging two raps with a double.

Nygreen struck out 11 of the 15 Pirate batters she faced in the five frames.

Nilson struck out 10 in the 21-1 win in the second game.

Nilson, Haley Moser and Molly Kramer each had two of the 12 Colton hits.

Colton last Wednesday took a pair from Tekoa/Oakesdale/Rosalia on the Wildcats field. They won the opener 12-6 with Nygreen allowing 10 hits.

Colton took the second game 6-3 with Nilson throwing a three-hitter. The Wildcats had seven hits with Nygreen tagging two doubles.

GARFIELD/PALOUSE topped the Eagles 9-4 and 12-1 for their two wins Tuesday on the home turf.

Emily Witthuhn threw a six-hitter for the win in the first game. The Vikings started with a four-run charge in the opening inning and finished it with four more in the bottom of the sixth.

Gar/Pal had 11 hits in the first game with Erin Witthuhn tagging a double and triple.

Gretchen Van Lith pitched for the Eagles and had two hits with a double.

The Vikings had nine hits in the second game with Chandler Pfaff pitching the win. Mickaila Martin homered for the big hits in the shortened second game.

TEKOA/OAKESDALE/ROSALIA sustained an 8-16 loss to Asotin in the first game with the Panthers booking six runs in the last inning. TOR had a 4-1 lead after the first three frames, but the Panthers moved out front in the fourth.

Asotin booked 16 hits in the opener at Tekoa, and TOR had 11 hits.

Briann Maley pitched both games game for TOR.

The second game Tuesday at Tekoa went into the eighth inning with Asotin scoring the decider. Michelle Heitstuman was credited with the RBI single in the extra eighth inning for the 10-9 win.

TOR had a 9-6 lead going into the seventh inning, and the Panthers managed to extend it with three runs for a 9-9 tie.

Asotin had 16 hits in the second game.
