Lamonters celebrate Thanksgiving

Kaye Bailey drove to Spokane Wednesday, Nov. 24, to spend several days with her daughter Jamie and John Gant and family and Tammie and Tom Cate and family. They all celebrated Thanksgiving at the home of Jamie and John and were joined by Zak and Bryanna Bailey. Kaye returned home Sunday evening.

Betty Stone hosted Thanksgiving dinner for family and friends. This included Debbie and Kevin Gaffney, Carolyn, Harvey and Brett Behrens, Patty and Sonny Ethredge, Georgia and Ed Bageant, Jennifer and Mike Larson, Eddy, Katie and Ellie Bageant, Ross Behrens and friend Trishell Waldo and Jo Schirr.

Kathy Shields and Pat Peterson drove to the Northern Quest Casino for Thanksgiving dinner with Billie Jo and Tim Davison.

Tina Swannack hosted Thanksgiving dinner at her Spokane home for family and friends which included Pete and Sandi Swannack, Sandi’s parents, Bob and Diane Martin of Davenport, Bob Martin Jr. and son Alex and Ron Moss, all of Spokane. Pete and Sandi spent the night.

Bill, Stella, Dean and Mindy Melville, along with Bill and Milly Kay Baldwin, drove to the Spokane Valley for Thanksgiving dinner at Max at Maribeau Park. Bill and Milly Kay drove home Saturday.

Don, Sherrill, Gary, Paula and Ryley Nelson and Don’s sister, Joan Nelson, all met at Twigs on the Spokane northside for Thanksgiving dinner Thursday.

Stephanie Swannack arrived Thanksgiving to spend several days with her parents, Steve and Ann Swannack. On Monday she returned to her home in Dublin, Calif. near San Francisco.

Art and Jill Swannack, their kids Carmen, Leah and Owen and their two exchange students, Thomas and Miguel, attended the Washington State Sheep Producers convention in Moses Lake Nov. 5-6. They attended the annual meeting and various workshops on sheep production, WSP transport rules, fencing and marketing. Art, who is on the American Sheep Industry national board and represents Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii, gave a report on important issues of concern to producers including wolves, bighorn sheep, public lands use and animal health. Saturday night was the formal dinner and the state “Make It With Wool” contest which was well attended.

On Sunday morning, Art left for San Angelo, Texas, to attend a two day national board meeting. The ASI president lives in this area and on the second day provided a tour of his ranch and the Angelo State University research farm nearby. Other meetings included Angelo State University’s meats program in San Angelo, Bollman scouring mills (where they clean the wool after it has been sheared from the sheep), Texas sheep and goat raisers state office and the Producers Livestock Exchange where 300,000 sheep and goats are sold annually. Art arrived back Tuesday night.

On Nov. 16-18, Art attended the Washington Farm Bureau annual meeting in Yakima. Art is on the board of Whitman County Farm Bureau.

In spite of the snowy roads, Dan and Jean Stromberger drove to Edwall for Thanksgiving dinner at the home of Bill and Janet Stromberger. Also attending were Jim Hutsinpiller and his family, Dr. Molly Hutsinpiller from Spokane; Amy and Ken and children, Alex and KJ, and Jim Jr. from Seattle. Tom Stromberger and daughter, Angie Harper and her daughter, Melany, and Dan Stromberger all from Spokane also attended.

Art and Jill Swannack had Thanksgiving dinner at their house. Guest included Linda Stanescu from Sprague. Jill’s brother, Craig Boyden and his friends Mark and John, arrived during Friday’s snowstorm from Everett to start deer hunting with their muzzle loaders.
