Lamont

Kathy Shields, Mary Catherine Ruud and Lottie Harding drove to Deer Park on Sunday to visit Billie Jo and Tim Davison.

They visited Clayton where the Clayton-Deer Park Historical Society was hosting an exhibit and display of paintings, photos and words of Leno Prestin, the artist who lived his life in Clayton. Next they drove on to Loon Lake where their historical society had also hosted a display of Prestini art and life. They ended the day with dinner at Sherri’s at Hastings Road.

Con and Janet Lamparter of Spokane entertained family and friends with a Sunday barbecue. Family members were Nita and Matt Polda, Frank and Myrna Rehn, Gwen Scroggie and Heidi Dupree.

Recently, Denny and Linda O’Keefe traveled to Aberdeen for her grade school reunion on Friday and 50th high school reunion on Saturday. They enjoyed staying in Aberdeen with her sister and husband and visiting their children and grandchildren. They also got reacquainted with a high school teacher, who is 100 years old, at church Sunday.

Last Thursday, Denny’s brother and sister-in-law from Western, Ore., visited the O’Keefes on their way to a class reunion in Northport.

Aaron and Sarah Stromberger from Spokane were Saturday luncheon guests of their grandparents, Dan and Jean Stromberger.

Recently, Nancy Wecker, Meridian, Idaho, visited four days with her parents, Dan and Jean Stromberger. While here, she visited at the homes of Janet and Bill Stromberger of Edwall and Tim and Arlene Stromberger of Davenport.

There was recently some excitement at the Pete and Sandi Swannack residence when a road rage incident that started near Revere ended up in their driveway, prompting Sandi to call sheriff’s deputies to defuse the situation.

Two people were taken to jail on outstanding warrants. The Swannacks did not know these people and were thankful to the deputies for their prompt response.

Last Tuesday afternoon, a fire was reported on the Union Pacific railroad about three fourths of a mile south of Fourth Of July Lake in Rex Harder’s pasture. It was believed to have started by a passing train and burned about 38 acres. Three fire trucks from Lamont, two from Sprague and three trucks from Fire District 4 helped extinguish the fire. The job was made more difficult because of burning ties laying by the tracks.

On Saturday, a fire was started from the combine on the Swift farm, burning about 50 acres of wheat. Fire assistance came from trucks from St. John, Lamont, Sprague and one from Charley Brown. Art Swannack brought a tractor to disc out a fire break.
