Lamont students earn honors

Jason Swannack, son of Leslie and David Swannack and Steve Bowen, grandson of Charlotte and Willard Bowen, graduated from St. John High School Sunday afternoon. Jason was co-valedictorian of the class with a four point grade average.

Theresa Simpson became a member of the Honor Society at Sprague High School. She also received the Academic Music Award. This award was given by the music teacher, Mrs. Whipple, to the student most dedicated to the music program.

Ashley Wheeler of Lamont also became a member of the Honor Society. To receive this honor, a student must maintain a 3.2 grade average for three consecutive semesters.

Diane Cook and Jean Stromberger attended eighth grade promotion at Endicott School Monday evening. Carmen Swannack, daughter of Jill and Art Swannack, was one of the 17 students promoted to St. John/Endicott high school next year. Carmen received recognition for her abilities in mathematics.

Friday night guests at the home of Diane and Alan Cook in Cheney were Diane’s nieces, Kelley Gray, Phoenix, Chris Cornett, Richland and Candy McNeil, Redmond, Ore.

Last Sunday, Bonnie Swannack and Judy Pagnotti from Mountlake Terrace, drove to Seeley Lake, Mont., to spend the week with a friend, Ann Kimble. Besides having the love of quilting in common, the three of them attended nursing school and received their nursing degrees together. Bonnie and Ann have made this trip for six years.
