Rains hit yard sale three times

The yard sale on Saturday didn’t get blown away, but it did get rained out three times. There is another yard sale planned for next fall, same time, same place; 9 a.m. at the Dusty Country Store.

Vicki Broeckel and Mike and Michelle Carver took the Historic Home Tour in Spokane on Mother’s Day. They also went to the Craftsman Exhibit at the MAC Museum in the afternoon.

Weekend visitors of Art and Colene Sager were her cousins, Nick and Leslie Harvey from Nampa. The Harveys attended the WSU graduation Saturday morning to see Leslie’s cousin receive a degree.

Tarri Steiger went to Seattle to visit her daughter Geraldine over the weekend. Saturday, Tarri, Geraldine and Spencer Scholz, formerly of Steptoe, along with Clare Steiger and her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Sharon Steiger, went to hear Stetson Steiger, a member of the Colfax Jazz Band, compete in the Mt. Hood Competition. They met the Mellor family, who also attended, and the Mellor’s daughter Lizzy and her baby Case.

The entire group went out for a Mother’s Day lunch. Band members Sam and John Mellor, Stetson and Megan Pearson joined them for lunch and then returned to the festival for workshops. Stetson Steiger won an award during the competition but his modesty prevented him from being specific about the kind of award he received.

Blake and Carmen Heaton spent Mother’s Day weekend in Tacoma with her mother, Emily Alexander, and brother, Richard Alexander.

Dianne Appel was in Gig Harbor Wednesday through Saturday of last week for the Washington Farm Bureau Women’s Conference. Steve Appel traveled to Washington, D.C., Saturday and returned home Wednesday after meeting with congressional legislators about Farm Bureau concerns. Their son Pete and his fiance Laura Ryan of Pullman, spent Mother’s Day with Dianne.

Mashayla Morris celebrated her 11th birthday last Friday at her home with her parents, Jennifer and Luke Morris and brother Quincy, great-grandma Joyce Appel, grandparents Keith and Sally Morris, uncle Jordon Morris, and cousins Miriam and Hope Hocutt, daughters of Bridgett and Chad Hocutt of Spokane.

Steve and Fran Maki picked up their daughter Chelsea Wolff at the airport Sunday. She had flown in from her home in Chicago. She will be visiting in the area until Thursday.
