LaCrosse grocery store backers plan dinner, comedy show

The Community Pride Committee will have a cleanup work day at the grocery store Saturday, May 15, at 9 a.m. Any resident who would like to assist is more than welcome to join in.

The committee plans a fund-raiser to help meet expenses of getting the store up and running. A family oriented evening May 22 at 6 p.m. will include dinner and world famous comedian Leif Skyving who is coming to town for entertainment. Leif, who has appeared on David Letterman, was a finalist in the Seattle International comedy competition and multiple finalist in the world famous San Franscisco Comedian Competition.

The dinner menu will include burgers, chicken, hot dogs, beans and potato salad. Price of the meal and the show will be $12 for individuals with family pass for $35. See any of the board members for ticket sales. Limited seats are available so get your tickets early.

Donna Andrus recently celebrated her 90th birthday with friends and family at the Teapot Cafe.

Christopher Jeffrey Andrus was born in Pullman April 25. He is the first child of Shane and Lorena Andrus and weighed in at seven pounds, seven ounces. Paternal grandparents are Jeff and Cindy Andrus of LaCrosse and great-grandmother is Donna Andrus, also of LaCrosse.

Whitman County sheriff’s marine patrol will be in LaCrosse at the City Park May 16 from noon until 2 p.m. to perform pre-season boat safety inspections. The marine patrol is providing this pre-season opportunity for boat safety inspections in an attempt to limit the enforcement time on the water.

LaCrosse Arts Council will have a bake sale and Mother’s Day gift baskets Friday, May 7, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Teapot Cafe.
