Dusty dog returns after short stay at Gonzaga

Dusty

Basil

Basil, the formerly missing dog, is back home again. While her owners, Mark and Kathy Vogler, were gone, she decided to check out life in the big city. She hitched a ride with a Gonzaga student first to Walla Walla and then to Spokane. She spent the weekend making friends with Gonzaga students, watched a Zags basketball game on TV, lived in an apartment for the first time, and got a bath. She even spent a short stint in the hoosegow (the pound) at Spokane when she decided on a little extra exploration and was apprehended. To get her out of the pound at Spokane, the Gonzaga student had to get her licensed.

Basil was returned after the student contacted the Whitman County Sheriff’s office. Becasue the dog was found on the Walla Walla Highway south of Dusty, the student was referred to the Dusty Co-op.

Connie Young at the Dusty Co-op, Kim Gustafson and Wendy McGraw had a part in getting the dog back.

Mark Volger and the student who enjoyed Basil’s company for a few days met at Colfax where Basil happily jumped into the pickup for her return to wide open spaces and the singing of coyotes. Basil came home with a Spokane dog license, a micro-chip and a few more pounds after enjoying big city cuisine.
