Wildcats hammer Asotin; SJE takes lead on 2 wins

Colton’s Wildcats crunched Asotin 65-47 Friday night in a showdown of undefeateds in the SE-North loop. The Wildcats then hammered Tri-Cities Prep in a home game Saturday to remain undefeated.

Asotin and Colton, who will enter different state playoff brackets, were both undefeated in SE-North play before the Friday clash on the river.

Meanwhile, St. John/Endicott girls defeated Garfield/Palouse Tuesday and Tekoa/Oakesdale Friday to move their SE North mark to 6-0 and advance to the top of the league.

Both the Eagles and Wildcats are undefeated at 12-0.

The two teams are booked to collide for a showdown next Tuesday at St. John and will have a makeup round at Colton.

The Wildcats at Asotin Friday played another pressure-packed game, pegged a 34-28 lead at the half and stacked another 10 points on the lead in the third quarter. Kelsey Moser hit a league high 30 beans against the Panthers, and Mollie Kramer rolled in 17.

Against TCP Saturday on the home court, Coach Clark Vining rolled out the playing time for everybody against the Jags.

SJE’s Kelsey Simon hit 17 at Tekoa Friday night to lead the Eagles over the Nighthawks. The league leaders took control in the first quarter and kept it for most of the duration.

LaCrosse/Washtucna booked a split over the weekend with a big win over the Vikings on the home court Friday and a loss to Touchet in a crossover match on the road Saturday.

The T-Cats will host Rosalia Friday in the Washtucna gym.

The Spartans dropped a 40-37 loss at Pomeroy Friday after pegging an early lead. Katelyn Maley led the crew with 18.
