Bulldogs peg revenge win over Lind/Ritzville

Justin Berarducci of Colfax and Austin Snaveley of the Wilbur-Creston Wildcats watch as a rebound gets loose in the Friday matchup at Colfax. Snaveley hit 23 points including five three pointers.

Colfax boys revenged a first-round loss to Lind/Ritzville Tuesday night when they dropped the Broncos with a strong 64-33 on the home court. The Bulldogs were nipped by the Broncs in their first round game at Ritzville back in December.

“Tonight, was the best defensive game we have played all year,” Coach Reece Jenkin said.

Bronco James Stevenson, who hit 19 against Colfax in the first round, was held to just six points Tuesday at Colfax. Jenkin credited Tanner Gay and JJ Robinson with putting the binders on Stevenson.

Bronco guard Jacob Eichner was held to a single point.

Colfax put the Broncos in a 38-15 hole after the first half and this time kept up the pressure over the last two quarters.

Robinson again led Colfax with 21, and Dustin Huber broke out for 16 on the night.

Tuesday’s home win followed another strong win over Valley Christian on the road Saturday, 58-17, and a 66-46 win over a strong crew of Wilbur/Creston Wildcats on the home floor Friday night. The Wildcats are at the top of the hunt for the 1B edition of the Bi-County race in District 7.

Friday, Wilbur/Creston, led by 6’7” Austin Snaveley, kept within range of the Bulldogs in the first half and came within a point of knotting it up early in the second half.

Caleb Bravard then hit a run of six points, starting with a three pointer, and the Bulldogs pulled away, finishing with 10 more points on the lead by the end of the quarter.

Snaveley led all scorers with 26. The Wildcats often rolled the tall senior to the outside and his five threebies showed Colfax fans why they use that tactic.

Robinson again led Colfax with 20 , including six buckets from the field. Freshman Brandon Gfeller, who hit two three-pointers, finished with 16.

Saturday at Valley Christian, Gfeller hit 12 to lead Colfax which activated the bench against the hosts who also sustained a big loss against Colfax when they visited here at the start of the league run.

Colfax led 41-6 at the half.
