    Colton, which wrapped up a 6-1 league run with a 58-40 win at Pomeroy last Thursday, gets the top slot in this week’s matchup with the NE Eights and will host Entiat Friday at 7 p.m. This week’s action decides five berths for the first round on the state eight-man playoff next week. Colton, which dropped its lone league game to Touchet, landed in the SE top slot by virture of a drawing.     Colfax volleyball team rapped out a trio of three-game wins Saturday at the regional tournament in Pasco to earn a top billing for the state 2B final which will be part of the action at Yakima’s SunDome starting Friday. The Bulldogs, who also stacked a set of three-game wins last week at the district show, will arrive at Yakima with a 32-1 overall record. That includes a 85-8 mark in games.     After being battered by the two NE league power teams in a five-day span last week, the Colfax Bulldogs found their game Saturday night in Pasco when they defeated Tri-Cites Prep 20-13 in the NE-SE crossover round. The game in spacious Edgar Brown Stadium matched the third-place teams from the SE and NE leagues.     St. John/Endicott girls, who had three runners among the top 11 finishers, placed third in the state all-B division cross-country race at Sun Willows in Pasco. The Eagles also collected the state academic award Saturday morning.     The independent Rosalia Spartans traveled to Gar-Pal Tuesday night to play for a spot in the state 1B playoffs. The District 9 play-in game allowed Rosalia a chance at the post-season. They took it, winning 78-28, to make them the S.E. District 9 No. 4 seed.     Although the first Palouse Cares meeting Nov. 7 was canceled, plans for the food drive are moving forward. The Palouse Cares Food Drive is the biggest single-day food drive on the Palouse.     Inland Northwest Community Foundation awarded 94 scholarships totaling $147,767 to students from Eastern Washington and North Idaho for the 2013-2014 school year.     Port of Whitman County officials are still working on an agreement with potential Boyer Park and Marina concessionaires, Leo and Terri Haas of Clarkston. Port Manager Joe Poire told commissioners last Thursday the port staff is done with the inventory at Boyer Park and Marina. The inventory counted tools, equipment, parts, restaurant equipment appliances and furniture with a total value of $5,105. Fuel and propane on site was valued at $4,000.     Steve Fulton of Arlington hopes to locate several Unifine Flour Mills in eastern Washington next year. Fulton’s uncle, Leonard, built a mill in 1953, and operated it near Fairfield for 20 years. Fulton said the mill produced 200,000 pounds of flour per year. Instead of processing grain a dozen times as standard flour mills do, this system processes the grain once, preserving the whole grain nutrients.
