She finished one stroke ahead of Tessa Jantz of Lind/Ritzville/Sprague. Michaela Tee hit 95 for the Timberwolves. Colfax’s Sara Whelchel passes Taylor Sande of St. George’s to win the second heat in the 200 meters. Oakesdale's Nighthawk girls bumped Colfax by 17 points last Thursday to win a 13-team NE track meet hosted by St. George's on the track at Mead. Oakesdale girls finished with 122 points, and Colfax finished with 105. St. George's finished in a distant third with 71.5 points. Colfax boys also finished in second place with 89.7 points, behind Northwest Christian. Ben Ahmann won the 110 hurdles for Colfax, and Caleb Brown cleared six feet to top the high jump field. A Garfield resident interested in buying the town-owned restaurant space will decide how to proceed after clarification on how to go about it. At the April 12 town council meeting, Jeff Rathbun, who works at the Foundry in Pullman, told the council he was ready to buy the Garfield space – which housed the former Smokin' Papa's. The Town of LaCrosse will host a public meeting next week to discuss potential improvements to the town's water system. As the only applicant for this year’s county .09 funds, the Whitman County Library was awarded the entire sum of $100,000 for projects at The Center. “I’m so excited,” said Kristie Kirkpatrick, library director. “This will be huge.” Kirkpatrick said the funds will help to push The Center toward completion. A group of Tekoa and Plummer, Idaho, area farmers have signed an expression of interest to work out a deal to turn a six-mile stretch of former railroad bed into a link between the John Wayne Pioneer Trail and the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes. The City of Tekoa hired a structural engineer who came to evaluate the Anderson building April 18, in the aftermath of the roof collapse and pending cleanup. Justin Cook of DCI Engineers in Spokane directed the city to put a fence on the south side of the building. A city crew lined out a plastic-webbed barrier.
