  • Colton man sentenced to five years in federal prison for child porn

    Chris Alan Nebelsieck, 44, Colton, was sentenced March 30 in U.S. District Court for Eastern District of Washington in Spokane after previously pleading guilty to distribution of child pornography. United States District Judge Rosanna Malouf Peterson sentenced Nebelsieck to five years in federal prison followed by another five years of probation, according to a report from the U.S. District Attorney's office.     Because of the wet weather in March, Colfax plans to keep the top portion of Moller Road closed until it dries out. The steep section of road links the Hillcrest area with Cromwell and Cherry streets on the West Hill. City crews plan to have the street segment open April 15. Through Friday, weed spraying will be conducted on the Bill Chipman Trail. Actual times of spraying will be determined by weather conditions.     Total precipitation for March at the Colfax NRCS was 4.28 inches compared to the 2.03 normal for the month. The March rainfall topped the monthly norm after the first two weeks of the month with a .53 reading for March 14 following a wet weekend. Double digit readings since that date included .19 for March 15, .19 for March 21, .86 for March 22, .89 for March 23 and .26 for Monday after last weekend. The double douse of precipitation for March puts the total since Oct. 1 at 14.19 compared to an average of 13.41 for the last six months....

    Jeffrey W. Rettkowski, 32, Rosalia, was booked into the county jail here late last Tuesday, March 29, on probable charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, failure to register as a sex offender and communications with a minor for immoral purposes. Bond for release at a first appearance was set at $75,000. The investigation report said deputies were alerted by state Department of Corrections officers that Rettkowski, who was prohibited from owning a firearm, was seen carrying a pistol and holster around Rosalia.
