    1 years ago January 5, 1912 The Northern Pacific depot at Oakesdale was robbed of $2,500 last Friday. Railroad detectives were put at work on the case and several employees were taken into custody but released. Two brakemen on the Inland freight train were fined by Justice Doolittle $5 and costs, making a total of $13.95 each, for stealing two turkeys from J.S. Albright at Thornton.     Rosalia Fire Station got a new look this last week. Firefighter Dave Gibbar constructed a giant replica of the Rosalia Fire Logo to place above the front door of the station.     Palouse and Lewiston-Clarkston Valley-area food banks are the recipients of grants as part of Avista’s year-end donation program. A total of $25,010 is being donated to food banks in Washington, Idaho and Oregon by Avista and Avista Foundation.     The Whitman County Library Board of Trustees meeting set for January 17 has been postponed until January 24 at 4 p.m. in the Colfax Library. This meeting is open to the public and the community is welcome to attend. Among meeting topics, trustees hope to be interviewing prospective candidates for their open board position.     The sixth annual Dahmen Barn art demonstration day in Uniontown has been scheduled for April 14 from 11 to 4. The theme will be art from found objects or repurposed materials of any type. Art may be decorative or functional, and includes wearable pieces. Artists are required to be on site to talk about their art and demonstrating some aspect of its construction during the event.
