Former Thornton resident hits 100

Necia Bennett Huntley of Olympia, former resident of Thornton, celebrated her 100th birthday on December 10, 2012.

Two days later she celebrated 12-12-12 for a second time in her life.

A century celebration party was held on Dec. 8 at the home of Pat and Betty Nelson Gill, her niece, of Olympia.

Approximately 70 family and friends attended the celebration.

Necia and her husband, Elmer, farmed for many years on the family ranch in Thornton.

Elmer also represented Whitman County in the Washington State House of Representatives and the Washington State Senate.

Necia is an active volunteer at the United Methodist Church in Olympia.

She is also an accomplished artist and paints all programs for church events and special services.

In addition to her art and church activities, she is an avid reader and also sews.

Necia is a life-long supporter of WSU and the Cougs.
