Hog Heaven

at Dahmen

Hog Heaven Big Band will play tunes from the Great American Songbook at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown Nov. 24 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Hog Heaven Big Band has 16 members.

Admission is $8 for a couple, $5 for a single and children 12 and under are always free.

CLUBS & YOUTH GROUPS

Athenaeum Club

The Athenaeum Club met Friday, Nov. 2, at the home of Sherry Cox, assisted by several of her neighbors.

Erica Eng and Katie Largent sang several numbers from “The Sound of Music,” which will be staged by Mr. Cary Cammack and the entire cast on Nov. 15, 16, 17, 19 and morning shows Nov. 20 and 21. The members thoroughly enjoyed the presentation.

President Mary Ann Wigen opened the meeting, welcoming the new member and two guests. She also announced the Yearbook Committee for 2013-2014 including Chairperson Dana Carroll, Marilyn Harder, Leona Herman, Sherry Cox, Mary Ann Mitchell and Dorla Dean Scholz.

Phyllis Kincaid gave the program on the life of our favorite redhead, Lucille Ball.

The next meeting will be the Christmas Luncheon, Dec. 7, at 11:30 a.m. at the Methodist Church. Members are asked to call Phyllis Kincaid to make reservations.

Chapter AF met Nov. 12 at the home of Lynne Bruya, hostess. Seventeen members responded to roll call by naming their favorite winter sport.

Ways and Means Committee discussed opportunities for the Dessert-A-Month fund raiser for the scholarship fund. Members volunteered to help at the various ticket sales locations.

Teri Heilsberg presented a program about the advancement of women’s sports versus men’s sports and the role Title 9 played in bringing a more equal playing field.

The next meeting, Dec. 10, will be the Christmas Social and gift exchange at the home of Robyn Johnson.

Those attending are reminded to bring item(s) for the Food Bank.

Fye, Clare Amelia, was born Oct. 31 at eight pounds, four ounces, to Kate Konen and Roy Alan Fye of Albion. Paternal grandparents are Steve and Donna Clark of Palouse. Maternal grandparents are Robert and Molly Konen of Lewiston, Idaho. The baby joins sister Jenna, 6, and brother Jeremiah, 8.

Martin, Tristen Nelson, was born Nov. 1 at five pounds, one ounce, to Richard and Crista Martin of Pullman. Paternal grandparents are Timothy and Stephanie Martin of Spokane Valley. Maternal grandparents are Paul and Linda Maxey of Troy, Idaho. The baby joins brother Nathan, 3.

Step dancers at WSU

Washington State University Performing Arts will ring in the holiday season with the championship Irish step dancers and fiddlers, the Gothard Sisters, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 30, in Jones Theatre in Daggy Hall. Tickets cost $14 adults; $11 seniors; and $8 students and youth.
