New legislation change for freshwater fishing license

New lawgoes into effect June 6

OLYMPIA - Washington anglers will be required to possess a recreational fishing license for freshwater smelt, crawfish and carp, according to a news release by the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife. The new law signed by Governor Inslee goes into effect June 6.

The requirement will provide information on species-specific limits, notably with fish that are under the Endangered Species Act or State Species of Greatest Conservation Need, according to the news release.
