Palouse swim team to host orientation

Orientation takes place Friday, June 7, in Palouse

PALOUSE — The swim team is back in action this summer under coach Andres Sena of Palouse.

The summer season kicks off with an orientation meeting for parents and swimmers at 6:30 p.m., Friday, June 7, at Palouse Park.

“We will have a discussion on the continuation of the program, hand out and turn in paperwork, answer questions and enjoy popsicles,” said Sena in an announcement.

Weekly practice will begin at 11:45 a.m. on Monday, June 17, at the Palouse pool and will last until 1 p.m. There will not be practice on days of swim meets.

Tryouts will not be held, and everyone is welcome to join. The registration cost per swimmer is $40, and swimmers must be 8-18 years old.

To compete, swimmers ten and under must be able to swim 25 yards of any stroke. For those eleven and over, swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards of any stroke.

Swimmers unable to compete will be afforded the opportunity to become stronger swimmers and eventually compete.

The competition starts on Tuesday, July 9. Swim meets will run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday throughout July. Three swim meets will take place in Palouse.

There is one swim meet scheduled on a Friday in Pullman.

The County Championship Meet will be in Palouse on Saturday, August 3.
