Garfield's annual May Day is around the corner

Celebration slated for next weekend, beginning Friday

GARFIELD — Another year of live music, a beer garden and festivities for the whole family is coming up next weekend for Garfield’s annual May Day Celebration.

Public Relations Community of Garfield Association Sarah Anderson said that the festivities will start at 5 p.m. Friday, May 17, with live music by Arron Kelly Rager and the Backcounty Blues Badasses. There will be a beer garden sponsored by Palouse Brewing Company, food trucks, a pie auction and several vendors set up downtown.

“Saturday is the big family day,” Anderson said, with with breakfast at 7 a.m. provided by the Garfield Christian Fellowship Church.

“The church is also doing games for the kids,” Anderson said, “They’ll have prizes and stuff like that.”

At 11 a.m. on May 18, the annual May Day parade will take place and games for kids of all ages will be taking place.

“We have a lot of return vendors, the only one that is new is there is going to be a freeze dried candy vendor,” Anderson said, adding that there will also be a couple kids selling food for funds to go on their Washington D.C. trip that they take every other year.

Anderson said that Ruck for the Fallen will have a booth again this year, along with about 20 vendors for the celebration so far. “Sometimes there’s some last minute ones who come late to the game,” she said.

Anderson invites everyone to come and have a good family day, hang out, and just enjoy time in the community.
