Colfax baseball win three games on WSU field

Games moved to WSU turf field due to weather

COLFAX - The Colfax Bulldogs baseball team had a unique opportunity to play their regular season high school baseball games on a collegiate baseball field.

They played two games against the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos on Tuesday, March 26, at Bailey-Brayton Field, the home of the Washington State University (WSU) baseball team.

Colfax took the first game with a 32-1 victory, then won the second game 17-0.

JP Wigen earned the pitching win for Colfax in the opening game as he pitched two-of-five innings, allowing one run on three hits with a walk. He also struck out five batters.

JJ Bodey pitched the final three innings, allowing zero runs on two hits with five strikeouts.

Colfax scored four runs in the first inning, then five in the second before exploding for a 12-run third inning.

After a five-run fourth inning, and a six-run fifth inning, the game was called.

Colfax had 18 total hits in the game for their 32 runs scored, led by two hits from Ledger Kelly, Caden Inderrieden, Tyler Peterson, Emeric Anderson, and Isaac Nelson.

Adrian Antoine finished with four RBIs for Colfax, and Inderrieden added three more.

Both Anderson and Bodey had two RBIs each for Colfax.

After the 31-run victory, the teams met again for their second game, where Colfax earned the 17-0 victory.

Dawson Lobdell pitched two innings for Colfax, picking up the win as he allowed one total hit with two walks. He would strike out three batters.

Jayce Kelly replaced Lobdell, pitching the final three innings, allowing no runs and hits on three walks and five strikeouts.

Colfax scored six runs in the second inning, and nine runs in the third to help push Colfax to 17 total runs.

Bodey led the way with three hits for two RBIs, and Erik Christensen had two hits for two RBIs.

Anderson also finished with two hits and an RBI.

Colfax then took on the Freeman Scotties on Wednesday, March 27, with Colfax earning the 14-4 victory.

Christensen pitched all six innings for Colfax, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks. He struck out four batters.

The four runs allowed came in the first, fourth and sixth innings.

Colfax did not score until the fourth inning, where they scored two runs.

After trailing 4-3 heading into the final inning, the Bulldogs rallied for 11 runs to end the game in the sixth.

Aslan Burt had two hits for two RBIs to lead Colfax. Lobdell finished with one hit for two RBIs as well.

Colfax walked 14 total times in the game, which helped lead to runs, earning Colfax the 10-run victory.

Colfax then finished their week with a double-header against the Kettle Falls Bulldogs. Colfax won both as Colfax finished the week with a 5-0 total record.

The first game against Kettle Falls was played on Saturday, March 30, in Kettle Falls. Colfax won the game 12-1 as Wigen pitched all five innings, allowing the lone run on one hit with three walks. He would strike out eight batters in the game.

Offensively, Lobdell hit a three-run home run in the third inning for Colfax as they totaled seven runs in the second.

Lobdell finished with four RBIs on two hits, and both Alton Burt and Anderson had two RBIs.

The second game of the double-header was a 14-4 victory for Colfax. Colfax scored in all five innings as they shut out Kettle Falls in the first and fifth innings to secure the victory.

Lobdell earned the pitching win as he went three innings, allowing four runs on two hits with seven walks.

Antoine came in to replace Lobdell for the final two innings, allowing one hit, and striking out one batter.

Anderson finished with three hits in four at-bats for a game-high six RBIs. Christensen added three RBIs of his own on one hit, and Bodey had two hits.

The next games for Colfax will be Thursday, April 4, with a double-header against Chewelah. The games will be played in Colfax, with first pitch set for 2 and 4 p.m.
