Wildcats score 42 runs in two games

23 of their runs came during the second game

COLTON — The Colton Wildcats softball team put their offensive talents on display early, sweeping Waitsburg in two games.

Colton won the first game 19-2, then won the second game 23-6.

Both games were played on Tuesday, March 19, in Lewiston.

The first game saw starting pitcher Kiya Soza go all five innings for the Wildcats. She allowed two runs on five hits with zero walks. She struck out 11 batters.

On the offensive end, Soza had two hits in three at-bats, including a home run and a triple, finishing with three RBIs.

Kaydee Heitstuman had two hits and RBIs in the game for Colton, and Mere Bell had three hits for two RBIs.

The 19 runs for Colton came on 10 hits. The team scored 10 runs in the first inning, and six in the second to put the game away early.

The second game of the double-header saw the Wildcats add 23 more runs to their seasons total, winning the game 23-6.

This game lasted just three innings, with the Wildcats scoring 11 first inning runs, and eight third innings runs.

Wildcat pitcher Kate Schultheis pitched all three innings, allowing six runs on two hits and 10 walks. She would strike out five batters in the game.

Schultheis would have two hits and four RBIs in the game. One of her hits was a double, the other a triple.

Clair Moehrle had two hits for Colton with one RBI. Heitstuman had one hit in the game, but finished with three RBIs.
