Tekoa-Rosalia softball win two close games at home

Scored 37 runs combined in their opening two games

TEKOA - The Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves started their 2024 spring fast-pitch softball season on Saturday, March 23, with two home games against the Pomeroy Pirates.

The games were played in Tekoa.

The first game of the day saw the Timberwolves win the game 15-11 over the Pirates.

Tekoa-Rosalia was out-hit in the game 16-11, but had three less errors, leading to their four-run victory.

Starting pitcher Clare Wilkins pitched all seven innings for the Timberwolves. She allowed all 11 runs on 16 hits with six walks. She also struck out 10 batters in the game.

Offensively, Wilkins had three hits on the day to lead the Timberwolves. She also had three RBIs.

Alexis Taylor had two hits and RBIs in three at-bats. She also walked twice.

Meagan Maley had two hits for an RBI and two walks as well.

Ace Lyuere had one at-bat, she would walk four times in the game.

Tekoa-Rosalia took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning before the Pirates answered with three runs of their own.

The Timberwolves came to life in the third inning, scoring eight runs to take a commanding 10-3 lead.

After the Pirates scored three runs in the fourth inning the Timberwolves answered with two more runs.

Tekoa-Rosalia scored one run or more in each inning besides the fourth inning to take the 15-11 victory.

During the second game of the day, Tekoa-Rosalia scored seven runs in the first inning, two in the second, three in the third, and five in the fourth as they surged to a 22-17 victory, sweeping Pomeroy.

Lahn pitched all seven innings for the Timberwolves in the game. She allowed 17 runs on 13 hits with 13 walks. She also struck out 10 batters.

Tekoa-Rosalia scored their 22 runs on just seven hits. The team walked 13 times, which helped scored runs when needed to win.

Wilkins led the way offensively with two hits and one RBI. Abagale McGuire had one hit with two walks for three RBIs to lead the team.

Both Lyuvre and Ashoan Butcher had two RBIs for the Timberwolves.

The next softball game for the Timberwolves will be Tuesday, Apr. 9, against Wellpinit for a double-header. The games will be played after spring break. The game will be played in Tekoa, with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
