Colfax baseball start season with annual jamboree

Played four games, all three innings long

COLFAX — The Colfax Bulldogs baseball team competed in a jamboree to open the 2024 baseball season. The jamboree took place in Asotin on Saturday, March 9.

The jamboree format saw the Bulldogs play four three-innings games. Two of the games were varsity games, and the other two were junior-varsity games.

“All 23 kids saw some kind of action, and had it not been for daylight, everyone would’ve gotten an at bat,” said Colfax Head Coach Scott Parrish.

The games played in the jamboree are not officially scored games, but teams competing in the games that are competing in the four-inning games treated them as real games, using the opportunity to build chemistry within the team, and find their starting rotation for pitching and defense.

“We’re able to bat as many guys as we want and we can substitute defensively pretty freely,” said Parrish.

The four teams at the jamboree were: Colfax (2B), Medical Lake (1A), Pullman (2A), and Pullman’s junior-varsity team.

Colfax varsity started the jamboree with a game against Medical Lake. The three inning game finished 2-2.

Senior JJ Bodey pitched two innings and Cody Inderrieden pitched one inning for Colfax.

“Both guys threw great and threw a lot of strikes, which is great to see on day one,” Parrish said.

Parrish said that hitting and defense were “a little off”, but is expected for the first play of the season.

“Looked a little rusty, but they got it dialed in pretty quick. We were able to make some plays,” said Parrish.

The Bulldogs took on Pullman in their second varsity game. The four-inning game ended 3-4. Colfax junior Dawson Lobdell pitched two innings, and Inderrieden pitched one inning again.

“Hitters faced a couple guys that threw pretty hard and did a good job of being patient,” said Parrish.

The junior-varsity team took on Medical Lake and Pullman.

The game against Medical Lake ended 5-1, and the Pullman score was 2-1.

“Pitching for JV was really good. Game one was sophomore Aslan Burt, eighth grader Caden Inderrieden, and eighth grader Zach Kroll. All three threw strikes and did great,” said Parrish.

Parrish also said that the second junior-varsity game was pitched by Adrian Antoine, striking out all six batters in two innings, and sophomore Isaac Nelson struck out three in his inning of action.

The first regular season tournament of the 2024 season will be Saturday, March 16, in Asotin for a double-header against Potlatch and Kellogg. The first game is set to start at 8:30 a.m.
