Eagles basketball take care of business with Dayton

Earn fourth win of the season

ST. JOHN — As mother nature made her way through Whitman County, bringing snowstorms and cancellations for basketball teams, the St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse Eagles finally were able to play their basketball game.

The Eagles took on the Dayton Bulldogs on Saturday, Jan. 20, in Dayton.

St. John dominated three-of-four quarters as they cruised to a 62-21 victory over the Bulldogs.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 4-8 on the season, with two of their wins coming against Dayton.

In the game, the first quarter saw the Eagles score 19 points, while holding Dayton to four. Bear Brewer led the way with seven in first for the Eagles.

During the second quarter, the Eagles exploded for 22 points, including six from Matthew DeFord. The Bulldogs would score just 11 as the Eagles took a 41-15 lead heading into the second half.

The Eagles scored 14 points in the third quarter, holding Dayton to four points once again in the quarter to take a commanding 55-19 lead with eight minutes to play.

St. John honed in on defensive play during the fourth quarter, where Dayton scored just two points. The Eagles scored 12, winning by 39 points.
