Oakesdale School District proposes Capital levy

Levy funds to update and renovate school buildings

OAKESDALE — On this year’s special election ballot, the Oakesdale School District No. 324 Board of Directors Board of Directors adopted Resolution No. 03-2324 concerning a replacement levy for capital improvements.

The proposition authorizes the school district to collect excess taxes, replacing an expiring levy, on all taxable property to modernize, renovate, and improve school facilities.

The levy is estimated at $400,00, resulting from a tax on property at rate of $2.22/$1,000 assessed value for 2025 through 2030.

Oakesdale Superintendent Jake Dingman said that the capital levy is a continuation of the one they had for the past six years, and the past levy has funded several renovation projects for the school. “We just finished renovation of our gym,” Dingman said, noting that the gym has new bleachers, a new floor, new hoops, and has been painted.

The levy has funded the renovation of the Oakesdale Elementary School, and in the next six years, the levy will be used to improve the security of the building. “Upgrading our entry, exits, and systems. We have one, but we want to ensure we have the best one,” he said.

Dingman said they plan to get new windows reduce energy costs and for any unexpected large costs, such as when the school’s HVAC system went down.

Dingman said they appreciate the community for supporting the capital levy in the past, with this being the third they’ve put on the ballot. “We thank them for the continued support,” he said.
