Bulldog boys remain undefeated

COLFAX — The Colfax Bulldogs are fourth in the 2B RPI standings after a 13-0 start to the season.

The Bulldogs had three games this week, starting with a game on Friday, Jan. 5, with a game against the Jenkins (Chewelah) Cougars. The game was played in Jenkins.

Colfax took advantage of their size and strength against the Cougars as the Bulldogs defeated the Cougars 73-21.

After the Cougars game, the Bulldogs would play two games at home. Their first was against St. George’s, who came into the game with an undefeated district record.

In the battle for possession of first in districts, the Bulldogs stood tall, winning 66-50 over St. George’s.

The Bulldogs would lead 8-7 halfway through the first quarter. The Bulldogs would see their lead dwindle, and Colfax would trail by three before taking a timeout. Colfax would trail 14-15 after one. JP Wigen scored six points in the first quarter.

Colfax took over in the second, starting with a 6-0 run early before allowing St. George’s to go on a run, tying the game at 28 after two.

Wigen would come alive in the third, scoring eight points as the Bulldogs took a 49-42 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Colfax led 55-44 before St. George’s took a timeout early in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs would go on another seven-point run before earning the 16-point victory.

Wigen finished with 18 points in the game. Seth Lustig scored 16, and Adrik Jenkin had 16.

The next game for Colfax was against Upper Columbia Academy. The game was played on Monday, Jan. 8, and was in Colfax.

Colfax had a 26-point first quarter to lead them to a 72-25 rout.

After one, Colfax led 26-8.

The second quarter ended with the Bulldogs ahead 45-15.

Colfax allowed 10 points in the second half, while scoring 27 to win by 47.

11 Bulldogs scored in the game, led by 16 from Jenkin.
