Three schools win academic awards

COLFAX — At the conclusion of the Colfax Bulldogs 2023 football season, the team was awarded with the 2B Academic State Championship.

The team received the honor having a combined GPA of 3.522 across 13 participants.

The average GPA was third-best amongst the six Washington state high school classifications.

“This team was extremely bright and took their academics seriously. They went to study table every Wednesday before practice all season,” said Colfax football head coach Mike Morgan.

Morgan also said they had two 4.0 athletes and 3-4 with a 3.99, everyone else was above a 3.0.

“Very proud of their commitment to excellence in the classroom,” said Morgan.

For boys Cross Country, the Garfield-Palouse Vikings received the academic state championship.

The Vikings had seven participants for an average GPA of 3.830.

On the girls swim and dive side, the Pullman Greyhounds received the academic state championship.

The Greyhounds had 13 participants for an average GPA of 3.940.

Their average GPA was the highest of any swim and dive state champions this season, regardless of classification.

The three schools that won the state champion awards will look to have other teams in the winter season win academic state champion awards in 2023.
