COLFAX — In a season where the Colfax football team finished 2023 with the same record as when the season ended in 2022, the Bulldogs ended this season on an extreme high, shutting out the Tonasket Tigers.
The final crossover game was played in Colfax on Saturday, Nov. 4.
The Bulldogs defeated the Tigers 52-0, shutting out an opponent for the first time since 2021.
Colfax scored 22 points in the first quarter, and added 30 more in the second to reach their 52 points.
Colfax quarterback Seth Lustig got the scoring started with a 23-yard rushing touchdown.
Later in the first, Tanner Senter had an 11-yard rushing touchdown to lead 14-0 after the two-point conversion.
Jaxon Wick finished the first quarter scoring with a 46-yard receiving touchdown to extend the Bulldogs lead to 22-0 after one.
Wick would have another long receiving touchdown to open the Bulldogs scoring in the second quarter, this time a 45-yard receiving touchdown.
Dillon Gassenberg had a 12-yard rushing touchdown shortly after to push the Bulldogs lead to 38-0.
After another Senter rushing touchdown, Cooper Phillips rushed for a 39-yard touchdown to cap off a 52 point first half for Colfax.
With the second half running clock the Bulldogs took advantage, slowed the pace of the game, and continued their defensive dominance against the Tigers, winning 52-0.
Colfax had 13 first downs in the game and allowed the Tigers to have just four. Colfax would rush for 129 yards and throw for 91.
The Bulldogs defense forced three interceptions from Tonasket and allowed just 43 rushing yards and 42 reception yards.
Phillips, Lustig and Gassenberg all had a rushing touchdown for the Bulldogs, while Senter had two.
The Bulldogs completed three passes in the game. They were all to Wick, who had 91 yards and two touchdowns. Wick also caught an interception in the game.
“I was very pleased with our last game. Very happy for the seniors to go out with a win. It was a challenging season but a rewarding experience. I’m very proud of these young men. Excited for their futures,” said Colfax head coach Mike Morgan.
